Star Gives Back

At the end of 2018, Theresa Donnelly and Lauren Lowell met with Gail Lee from The Children’s Home to present this wonderful local organization with a check for $560. These funds were raised from ticket sales this past summer, and they will be used to benefit the Arts programs at The Children’s Home.

A big thank you to all of our audience members and STAR families that helped us make this contribution!

Updates on our 2020 season

Dear STAR Families,

We bring this message to you today with heavy hearts.  The safety and well-being of our actors, production staff, and audiences have always been a priority at STAR, and with so much uncertainty ahead of us this summer, the Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to postpone our 2020 season to Summer 2021.

Please know that we did not come to this decision lightly. There were many options and factors discussed, including but not limited to: virtual rehearsals, keeping rehearsals small, or live streaming the performance. Even with those potential safety measures in place, we do not feel we can provide our families with the workshop and performance experience they have come to expect and deserve.

We know so many of you were excited to participate in this summer’s season, and we want to make sure you still can in Summer 2021. The Board has agreed to increase the age limits of both the STAR Jr. and STAR YA workshops for 2021 to allow anyone who would have aged out of those workshops the opportunity to return to that group next year.

At this point, the shows that we planned to do in Summer 2020 will carry over to Summer 2021 which means that Prime Time Nursery Rhymes, James and the Giant Peach, Jr, and the area premiere of Be More Chill are still the shows STAR intends to offer next summer.

We are offering three options when it comes to this year’s tuition:

  • Request a full refund by emailing starltdtheatre@gmail.com by June 15.
  • Request that your tuition for this year be transferred over to next season to lock in your spot by emailing starltdtheatre@gmail.com by June 15.
  • Consider a donation to STAR. If you would like to make a donation to help keep us going through to next summer, you may request that a donation come out of your tuition and the remainder be refunded by emailing starltdtheatre@gmail.com by June 15.

The thought of not having a summer season is as devastating to us as it is to our actors. Our goal is to find ways to keep them engaged over the summer, be it virtually or safely from a distance. Please tune in for our first virtual cabaret on May 17, and be prepared for several more this summer.

STAR may be down, but we are certainly not out, and we look forward to seeing all your lovely faces around town and on screen this summer.

Thank you for understanding how difficult a decision this has been for us, and how much we are looking forward to Summer 2021.

Sincerely,

The Board of Directors
STAR, Ltd.
